SharePoint Training

SharePoint training is essential for those who need to install or administer SharePoint farms, servers, site collections, or even single sites. SharePoint is an extremely complex and versatile product, and every step in its planning and implementation needs to be done with best practices in mind. Although many products can be guessed at and approached much more casually, a poorly planned or implemented SharePoint farm will be a major problem for months or years to come. Luckily there are many great sources of SharePoint training, and the cost for these ranges from totally free tutorials and labs all the way to thousands of dollars for classes and boot camps.

I’m going to start with the free sources first, because you can get a lot of basic as well as very detailed knowledge just by digging in to what’s available out there for free. If you’re new to SharePoint, you should definitely start there, because SharePoint is a massive amount of technology to cover, and your training money will be better spent on learning advanced items and best practices after you’ve seen and learned the everyday items that you can learn about for less cost. Next we’ll cover ways to learn SharePoint for relatively low cost, then finally we’ll evaluate expensive training classes.

In addition, when I run across a note I’ve made over the past couple of years, those “D’OH!” moments, I’ll be writing those up in a category called SharePoint Beginner.
